Terms of Service
These terms explain what TaxCurb provides, what remains your responsibility, and how paid packages and account access work.
Effective date: September 15, 2026
Important to know
TaxCurb helps you prepare. You, not TaxCurb, review and file your forms with the relevant tax authority.
Your answers drive the result. Review every form and calculation before you download, sign, or file it.
Some packages are paid. The price and what is included are shown before checkout.
Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and TaxCurb (“TaxCurb,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of our website, tax-preparation tools, and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, purchasing a package, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy at https://taxcurb.net/privacy-policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization.
Who may use TaxCurb and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use the Service. You must provide accurate, current account information and keep it up to date.
You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for activity under your account. Contact us promptly at rojan@taxcurb.net or sanjog@taxcurb.net if you suspect unauthorized access. Do not share an account or use another person’s account without permission.
What the Service does and does not do
TaxCurb provides software and educational tools intended to help users, including many international students and nonresident taxpayers, prepare forms such as Form 8843, Form 1040-NR, related schedules, and certain state forms. Available forms, tax years, calculations, and packages can change and may not cover every fact pattern.
TaxCurb is a self-preparation service. It does not provide individualized tax, legal, accounting, financial, immigration, or other professional advice; represent you before the IRS or another authority; or file, mail, sign, or submit a return for you. The Service is not a substitute for a qualified professional who can consider your complete circumstances.
You are responsible for deciding whether a form is appropriate, reviewing the completed materials, signing and filing them on time, paying any tax due, and responding to notices, audits, or other communications from tax authorities.
Your filing information and review
You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of the information you enter or upload. Before relying on any output, you must carefully review the answers, calculations, and every generated form for accuracy and completeness.
- Do not enter information that is false, misleading, incomplete, or belongs to someone else without authorization.
- Keep copies of your source documents and any records required for your tax filing.
- Use the tax year and form version that apply to your situation.
- Seek qualified advice when your circumstances are uncertain, unusual, or outside the Service’s supported flow.
Packages, payments, and taxes
Some features or document packages require payment. The price, package, and material purchase terms presented at checkout apply to that purchase. We may change future prices or package availability, but a change will not alter the price of a completed purchase.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing, you authorize Stripe to charge the payment method you provide for the displayed amount and agree to Stripe’s applicable terms. TaxCurb does not store your full payment-card number. Your paid access is tied to the package, account, and tax year identified at checkout; it is personal, non-transferable, and subject to successful payment verification.
Any refund, cancellation, or consumer-rights terms displayed at checkout or required by applicable law continue to apply. If you have a payment issue, contact us with your checkout email and order details; do not send card numbers by email.
Optional W-2 scanning
The optional W-2 scan feature lets you send a W-2 image or PDF to Reducto, a third-party document-extraction provider, to help fill form fields. Use it only for a document you are authorized to process. You may enter W-2 information manually instead.
TaxCurb keeps the uploaded file in server memory only for the scan request and does not save that uploaded file to its own storage. Reducto receives and stores the document under its own terms and retention practices, and TaxCurb’s current integration does not have a documented deletion capability for files stored by Reducto. The feature is optional; by using it, you direct us to send the document to Reducto. More detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for lawful, personal tax-preparation purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Attempt to access accounts, data, systems, or source code that you are not authorized to access.
- Interfere with the Service, bypass security controls, probe for vulnerabilities, or introduce malicious code.
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the Service without our written permission.
- Use the Service to violate law, infringe another person’s rights, or prepare filings using false information.
- Resell, rent, sublicense, or make the Service available to others as a commercial service without our written permission.
Your content and our intellectual property
You retain ownership of the information and documents you submit to the Service (“Your Content”). You give TaxCurb a limited, non-exclusive right to host, process, reproduce, and transmit Your Content only as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service, and as described in the Privacy Policy.
TaxCurb and its licensors own the Service, including its software, designs, text, trademarks, and other content, except Your Content. Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Service except where applicable law does not allow that restriction.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available and accurate, but it may be unavailable, delayed, interrupted, or changed for maintenance, security, provider issues, tax-law changes, or other reasons. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service when reasonably necessary.
Tax rules, forms, instructions, and filing deadlines change. You remain responsible for confirming that a form and tax year are current and appropriate for your situation before filing.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAXCURB DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
TaxCurb does not guarantee that the Service, its calculations, generated forms, tax treatment, or information will be complete, accurate, current, available, accepted by a tax authority, or suitable for your circumstances. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer protection or other right that cannot legally be limited or disclaimed.
Limits on liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAXCURB AND ITS LICENSORS, PROVIDERS, AND REPRESENTATIVES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAXCURB’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TAXCURB FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. To request account deletion, email rojan@taxcurb.net or sanjog@taxcurb.net with the subject line “Account Deletion.” Our handling of retained information after a request is described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end your access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created a security or legal risk, used the Service fraudulently, or harmed the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including those on payments, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and general terms, will survive.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service, our business, or applicable law changes. We will post the updated Terms here and revise the effective date. If a change is material, we will take additional steps to notify you when appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
General terms and contact
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and TaxCurb about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
